Sarah O’Donovan

Marketing Manager

Sarah started out with 5 solid years in Journalism and Communications, before delving into broader marketing roles across a number of startups, large corporations, small divisions, third sector work, government contracting, and small business consulting. As a marketer she’s worked as a one-woman show through to teams of 30, in companies from anywhere between 5 and 5,000 staff members.

Sarah was attracted to this role at UnWork after a particularly rewarding change management project she led during COVID. The project involved new office acquisition, hybrid model development, internal software architecture build and roll-out, internal communications, and staff adoption initiatives. Finding a passion outside of her usual realm, she’s been seeking out opportunities to streamline and transform ways of working ever since.

Q&A

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us, or share three things that most people don’t know about you

I love going to punk rock gigs just as much as I enjoy going to the theatre

What is your favourite building?

Cologne Cathedral, Germany. I’m a huge fan of Gothic architecture which can be found across Europe, but this cathedral is – at least in my mind – the best example out there.

What’s your favourite quote?

“What we don’t understand, we can make mean anything” – Chuck Palahniuk Chuck is my favourite author and I like this quote because it’s a juxtaposition. To me, it speaks to the unlimited creativity in storytelling: audiences will interpret things differently based on their own knowledge and experiences – and reminds us the danger of being uninformed: in not keeping up with emerging technology and trends, we risk ignorant bliss that will see us fall behind.

How would you describe UnWork in three words?

Unbeatable, Unbelievable, Undetered
